How it all began.

I’ve always loved science. As a kid, I was constantly reading nonfiction books geared toward young readers. Like many boys, I was especially fascinated by dinosaurs, and most of my science projects revolved around that topic. I also loved fairy tales, particularly those by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. Looking back, I suspect that if I’d had stronger science teachers in high school, I might have pursued a career in science instead of law.

Over the years, I’ve had more than a few false starts trying to write screenplays and have read numerous books on novel and screen writing. Ironically, it was my kids—knowing my love of learning and nonfiction—who gave me a subscription to MasterClass. My companions soon became some of the greats of thriller writing: James Patterson, Dan Brown, and David Baldacci.

I’ve watched their classes over and over. They weren’t just inspirational—they were instructional. And with that, I began my quest to see if I could actually complete a novel—nine months later it was done, and I am now on my quest to locate an agent. You can’t get published if you don’t complete your novel. So here is my journey on the road to find out.
